Reginald Thompson, Clerk of Municipal Court
Reginald Thompson grew up in Dothan, Alabama. Father is the late Rev. Tony Thompson, Jr. and his mother is retired educator Malinda Colbert. After graduating from Northview High School Reginald started his college education at Alabama A & M University and received his Bachelor of Business Administration at Troy University. Reginald moved to Columbus, GA in 1989 and has been in management for 30 years, ten of those years have been with the Columbus Consolidated Government. He has been with Columbus Consolidated Government since 2011.
Reginald started working for the office of Clerk of Municipal Court in February 2016. On March 6, 2020, Reginald announced his candidacy for Clerk of Municipal Court and was unopposed. Receiving the endorsement of the Honorable Vivian Creighton Bishop that announced her retirement after being the Clerk for 28 years. Reginald took office January 1, 2021 implementing professionalism, customer service and user friendliness.
Reginald is married to Valerie, the pastor of Revelation Missionary Baptist Church. He is also an ordained minister. They have four children and several grandchildren. He has been involved in several service projects within his church and the city. He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated where he has served in several leadership positions.
