The PORCH Project is Providing Overdose Reversal to Give Columbus Hope. PORCH is educating, training, and distributing NARCAN nasal spray to our local first Responders and our community at large.
The PORCH Project is a partnership between the Columbus Consolidated Government and SAMHSA in an effort to save lives.
PORCH is overseen by Project Director Dayna Solomon and Project Coordinator Dr. Barry Poyner. Other vital personnel include Officer Tony Newton, Peer Support Specialist Tabatha Moss, Evaluator Dr. Andrew Cox, and Substance Use Disorder Counselor Todd Wilson
Porches transitionally take us from public to private spheres, from the chaos and cares of the world to the comforts of home and sometimes vice versa. They convey a sense of nostalgia and a longing for simpler times. Porches offer a sanctuary to enjoy solitude, to connect with nature. Porches also allow us to engage in social interactions: sometimes pleasant, even romantic as on the porch swing, and sometimes confrontational by not bringing conflict into the house.
You don’t normally live on the front or back porch, unless you are in trouble. So leave your dirty shoes on the porch as you explore our web page and find reasons for hope, not a whimful wish but a confident expectation! Recovery is possible and waiting for you!
